With introduction of power sector reforms in the state of the Jharkhand in 2014, the scenario for the State Owned Electricity Enterprises has undergone a vivid change. To ensure the on-going process of transformation is not a temporary phase, but is sustainable, JUSNL is considering a number of new initiatives in transmission projects implementation, technology & HR management.
Together with the organisational changes, JUSNL is making an attempt to be more accountable & responsible. We have a gigantic task ahead of us, in terms of system & infrastructure up-gradation as well as creating new infrastructure to be able to meet the future requirements of the state. Growth in various sectors of Jharkhand should not face the bottleneck due to lack of electricity.
Since independence, the people of Jharkhand who are residing in remote areas had not seen the light of civilization which actually comes through the new Carrier "Electricity", Immediately after the new state was constituted on 15.11.2000, the state of Jharkhand announced constitution of Jharkhand State Electricity Board to take up all activities for electrification of the whole state. After the formation of Jharkhand state on 16.03.2001, the Government of Jharkhand appointed the Chairman & Member of Jharkhand State Electricity Board. Jharkhand State Electricity Board was entrusted with the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power in the state of Jharkhand, India
Further, in exercise to provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, the unbundling of JSEB took place under Jharkhand State Electricity Reforms Transfer Scheme, 2013.
On the Aspects of company overview Jharkhand Urja Sancharan Nigam Limited (JUSNL) was set-up on 6th January 2014 and is registered under the companies Act, 1956. The company has been designated as the State Transmission Utility in terms of Section 39 of the Electricity Act, 2003
Presently, company is carrying on intra state transmission and wheeling of electricity under a license issued by the Jharkhand Electricity Regulatory Commission. It is also discharging the functions of State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC).
The Transmission structure of JUSNLowns High Voltage Transmission System (EHVTS) and operates about 4526.76 Circuit Kms of intra state transmission lines at 400 kV, 220 kV, 132 kV level and 42 nos. of substations with transformation capacity of 6505 MVA.The operation of JUSNL transmission network is major divided into 5 Zones, 8 Circles, 13 Divisions and 42 Sub-divisions.
As far as a Transmission Utility is concerned, it is a most important link, rather a bridge which connects the generating plant to retail distribution network. As part of that process JUSNL, Which also has been bestowed with coveted mantle of STU is screening the pious obligation of developing a strong system to support the load as well as Generation Growth.
All the same, aim is not limited to catering the demand of power sector but filter down to social aspect such as:
JUSNL adhere to meet plan target for expansion of transformation capacity and commissioning of transmission line within specified time schedule and budget. Further to enrich power evacuation from generation projects, to provide proper voltage to consumers, to meet load growth, to provide redundancy of power supply.
